This development is for a project was intended to develop a CD design including packaging, front cover, back cover, disk design and the front and back of a pullout. I set my theme for this project on visualising music i researched other attempts at doing something similar and decided to use illustrator to create shapes to resemble motion of sound. At the top I have created various shapes and objects and then put them together to create the centre foldout and then base the rest of my design from the outcome of this design.

Typographic Layout
This is my final piece for a project which consisted of using a 'classic' typeface and use the elements within the glyphs pallet to create something dynamic and creative that enhances the features of the typeface. i chose Baskerville because its full of character and is transitional, although it is not very different from its predecessors the fine and bold strokes add quality and are more noticeable. I chose this as my final design because its very formal and it matches the character of the typeface itself also the use of one colour with different tones differentiating the foreground and background give it some depth and style.
Experimenting with media
Experimentation is vital to a good final design being able to work with different medias allows more variation and options to play around with. Here I have used several different media's including; pencil, oil pastel, graphite stick, watercolour and soft pastel. i have also created illustrations with a variation of stoke width, colour and style helping me to visualise and design other ways of using the different media's and techniques to create a final design which was to design a piece of clothing to be marketed at either B&Q or IKEA.
Logo Design
Logo Design is an interest of mine and because is holds so much character and is basically the way in which the clients see a company this is why it is important to keep it easily recognisable and simple. This project consists of two live briefs one with a client who was starting up a cupcake business which consisted of a rather informal approach and another who had a position at 'Tameside Virtual School' and they wanted something a little more formal as it would be based on interacting with the carers of the children rather than the children themselves. Myself and colleagues attempted both briefs individually and spoke regularly with the clients to make sure we was heading in the right direction in the end each colleague submitted a design for both and for the 'Tamesde Virtual School' my design was chosen and is in use to date.
This piece of work was my final piece for an advertisement of the Alvin Ailey Dance Consortium the main focus of this project was developing and shaping a suitable composition that would allow the viewers to read the information in the way in which it should be said. I used a single typeface while using variations of it which consist within its type family giving me the opportunity of being able to play around with different weighted typeface of the same type to distinguish what information should be read and what order it should be read. The composition allows designers to play around and be creative in the way in which they present the work making it more interesting and less static as plain type would be.
Magazine Layout
This project was to format a magazine spread in a way which was visually creative this allowed me to play around with a lot of elements and tools while experimenting. composition is important when it comes to working with text it can look plain and boring on its own which is why i attempted to bring it to life using a 'pull quote' and a typeface from Jonathan Barnbrook himself since it seemed to fit in with the project itself. the use of quotation in both of the designs shown adds some depth and some nice visual to the overall design making it more attractive and interesting to look at encouraging people to read the article rather than just glance.
